Why hate Cottenham?

I was appalled, disappointed and angered reading Mrs. Johnstone's comments about the possibility of a bypass for the troubled "hub of the fens" under the name of Willingham...Indeed, it is such an important town  that needs a bypass so that its middle class inhabitants can rest their tired bodies after a hard day's work in the fields and after the daily commute to the Co-op (where they prefer to park their four-wheeled fortresses having managed to cover the 100 yard or so distance from their domiciles...) without letting any motorized vehicle disturb their peace and quiet... I fully sympathize and empathize with that...Meanwhile, Mrs. Johnstone having been a"professional" councillor for time immemorable should have known better...Mrs. Johnstone, as you belong to a council, you should be working as a team with your  colleagues. Indeed, this is what should happen in every council. If you take the side of your chums in Oakington and Willingham and don't give a damn about Cottenham, then where is the team spirit ? It goes to the dogs and the cats !!! How can you  be re-elected every year  in the same ward it is worth investigating. You and the rest of the "councillors" urge the people to work as a team and get collective, in a way, decisions whenever there  is such a need. You are the first to break the rules..But what do you expect from women (as councillors or otherwise in the public service) ? They know where they belong and should stay there (doing the housework and the gardening)... I have never known  a woman doing something useful apart from creating a mess...

Yes, I am 75, never married, without sprogs and do not intend to have any (wife or sprogs...).If Mrs. JOHNSTONE wants to know of my views, she can get back to me for more...

Yours very sincerely and truly,

Peter South  (and I come from the North and from Cottenham...)
