Hempsals Community Farm Open Day - 5th September

Hempsals Community Farm Open Day  Sat 5th Sept 2-5pm

Hempsals Community Farm is a community growing scheme where committed members bring together a variety of skills and ideas to share in the both the risks and benefits of the harvest. We have 5 acres of farmland that we use for growing fruit and vegetables and keeping pigs, goats, sheep, turkeys, geese, chickens, ducks and bees. Our members receive fresh food from a known source, benefit from fewer ‘food miles’, less packaging and ecologically sensitive farming with improved animal welfare and are able to participate in all aspects of food production without having to take on sole responsibility for such a wide range of produce. Surplus produce such as pork, Christmas geese and turkeys, honey, etc. is also sold to ‘Friends of the Farm‘.

On 5th Sept we will be holding our annual Open Day. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in getting involved with small holder farming to have a look round the farm and chat to the members about what’s involved. We have a wide range of members from complete novices to others that have some farming/gardening experience but all bring enthusiasm and a “can do attitude” which has meant we have done everything from growing veg and milking goats to building a club house!
